Research
Peter is a chemist working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California Berkeley for Prof. Jay Keasling. Peter received a B.S. in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University and was recognized with the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. Next, Peter earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University under the guidance of Prof. Chad Mirkin. He studied how DNA can be used to program the organization of proteins into sequence-encoded architectures, including single crystals and oligomers, for applications in protein structure determination, therapeutic discovery, and protein hierarchical assembly. At Northwestern, Peter received the Ryan Fellowship and the internationally competitive Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship. In the Keasling Lab, Peter studies the biosynthesis of therapeutically-relevant natural and non-natural terpenoid molecules in yeast.
