Education:
BSĀ in Botany with a focus in genetics and molecular biology and Summa Cum Laude honors; Oregon State University
Background & Research Interests
I am a graduate student in the Plant and Microbial Biology Department at UC Berkeley, pursuing my PhD in Plant Biology. My main interests are in the field of synthetic biology, and the metabolic engineering of plants. Currently I am working on developing and characterizing synthetic transcriptional regulators for the engineering of complex genetic circuits, as well as the production of a variety of natural products in non-native hosts. I hope to work towards expanding the field of synthetic biology beyond microbe engineering, and into plant systems for the production of commodity chemicals and human therapeutics.
